3 peppermint shrimp saved my tank

As many of you know, I have had a horrible problem with aiptasia. Well, I bought 3 peppermint shrimp at Aquariums this week and in 24 hours they cleared my entire tank of aiptasia! I could not believe it, I literally had hundreds and hundreds of aiptasia. Evey square inch had at least one. As soon as the lights went out I sat down and watched the little guys go to work! I already had 3 peppermints in the tank but they never come out or do anything. But these three earned their keep. I have named them Mighty One, Mighty Two, and Mighty Three. :celeb1::celeb1::celeb1:

Nice.. It's a little hit or miss as you've found out on whether or not peppermints will take to eating aptasia. Something or rather dependent on where they were collected from.

Congrats

I got some last thursday and they cleared my aptasia out. I wasw just at aquariums a few hours ago and they still have some.

Now that is a success story - sounds like they got a shipment that are proven aiptasia eaters...

When the club broke down the UCO tank I brought home about 20lbs of LR that was COVERED in aptiasia. A few peppermint shrimp later it was pest anemone free. I've had good luck with the little guys 90% of the time.

Maybe the original three are camelbacks and not peppermints?
