3 Tangs in a 180 Gallon

OK, I've done a bunch of searches and they're varying in responses, so I want to put this out for discussion.

I currently have a 180 Gallon with the following live stock:
150 lbs live rock
(2) False Percula Clowns
(1) Kole Tang (about 3-4")
(6) Blue Chromis
(1) Purple Fire Fish
(1) Yellow Watchmen
(1) Antenna Goby
(1) Spotted Green Mandarin
(1) Sexy Shrimp
(1) Yellow Belly Coral Banded Shrimp
(1) Candy Cane Pistol Shrimp

I have a Juvenile Blue Tang and 4" Yellow Tang in quarantine for the past (2) Weeks. I'm I asking for Trouble with (3) Total Tangs in my 180? I going to ADD together in about (2) more weeks

I do a 15-20% water change every other week and have an over-driven 180 Aqua C Skimmer. I rarely detect Nitrates.

I have a great working relationship with my LFS so I could take one back if best. Although I really do want to keep the Blue

Opinions are very welcomed! Thanks for reading Tom

Is the blue tang the atlantic Acanthurus version or a Hepatus? If it's the Acanthurus I think the three tangs will be OK in your 180. They are all three from different genera and stay within a reasonable size.

I am somewhat against mixing Caribbean fish with species from other oceans. The Caribbean Sea tends to get a bit warmer and then cooler than more stable world oceans. Sometimes though in the instance you describe 3 tangs will diffuse aggression. I used to diffuse aggression with a 3rd species member when I kept African Cichilds years ago. Though you shouldn't have any issues with the Yellow and anyone else, maybe the Kole and Atlantic Blue though naturally they would never encounter each other.

I have 4 in my 180 right now, but will eventually have to remove at least one. 3 should be fine, I have a yellow/tomini/hippo/clown that all get along for the time being. The clown will be the first to go down the road.

What are your concerns? Are you worried about the fish not getting along? The effect that 3 tangs might have on water chemistry?

I think in a tank that large they will cross paths but they should all be kosher with each other.

I would like to have a clown, how does he do with the other tangs and when did you add him? last or all together...

i have 3 tangs and my tank is like 170gallons... im thinking of putting more in. dont know what. prob a regal, sailfin or purple

The Blue is Paracanthurus hepatus

Not so much, just the overall aggression of the tank. as of now everyone seems to get along.

Eventually the hepatus might outgrow your tank, but that is most likely years down the road.

I understand that and would part with him for the well being of the animal.

Thank you for all the reply's!
