it happens to all of us, if you want to find out if your still married come home with alot of fish goodies, if there s a response your still married if no response your spouse may have left

It is addicting and bankrupting depending on how much of an addictive personality disorder you already possess!!!

My wife is very patient. She quit asking a long time ago how much I have spent on the addiction. As long as I take the dog out once in a while I do alright.

My wife and those of a few friends have titled themselves "reef widows." They know that before we got out or leave town, we'll have to check on the tank or tweak something.

Ha Ha Ha....Thats great! Im with JDM01, I take the dog out and shes ok. Problem is dog stresses me out so much i have to go and relax again by the tank ( wich usually amounts to why i need something else in the tank! and more $$ and more $$ and more $$ have a great weekend! db

my wife has become numb to it already...she does'nt even ask me how much i spent for that acropora colony anymore because she know's im obsessed with keeping these thing's and i am always forever and i mean forever throwing money at this darn reef tank of mine, wait i need to make a phone call...

welcome to reef keeping :) This hobby is extremely addictive and in my opinion most if not all reefkeepers have an addictive personality. Tell your significant other she is so fortunate that you keep reefs and do not do mind altering drugs :)
Enjoy your tank

Its so addicting, like a month and half after I got my tank, my husband got one of his own. :) I like it better than his previous computer addiction, so atleast we can do this together.

Wait until your aniversary... not your wedding aniversary, the first one for your tank. If you get something nicer for your tank than you did for your wife, start bobbing and weaving, and practice the phrase "Just put the gun down slowly".

shagsbeard thats funny lol......Im buying all the hardware for my tank now....I dont even have water in it yet and shes annoyed because she says I spend all my time on the computer looking at "fish stuff" lol

llama72,
I think you can tell from the thread that there's no hope for any of us. The gift for your bride on the tank's first anniversary is a great idea! That Shagsbeard is one wise and experienced dude!;)

At the risk of introducing a more serious note...

you say the tank is 3 weeks old - is that from initial start up or 3 weeks since it was "settled" - N cycle complete, etc.? I'm of the "good things happen slowly" school, so I hope you're not in for some algae blooms and such since your bacteria population is probably not fully up yet. You might want to go just a bit easy with tank feeding for a couple weeks, and make sure you have plenty of water movement.

your bb name has me thinking - is there a south american connection? My wife grew up as an MK in Peru, and we taught there for four years back in the 80's. We were out in the rain forest area near Pucallpa. Gorgeous place.

Just get the misses to sit down infront of the tank with you and stare at the fishy waters for hours upon hours... that is what I did now the wife is addicted as well.. :)
