Here is my up flow carbon reactor to be used pretty much 24/7 with a once a month change out. I will use large pellets pre rinsed with a flow not to cause the decay of the pellets. This is the first of 8 reactors i will use at different times with my system.

Well i will be painting the other half of my close loop tomorrow picked up needed fittings today. Man i go through alot of fittings and have several boxes of them just seems never the ones i want
I picked close loop with this build because being 56 this will be my last big build. I have had several 300's and a 750 gallon reef so if i ever do another tank it will be simple. My first choice for the close loop was using 2 Water Blaster 3600s then i thought Dart pumps with Baldor motors...even bought one. Then i heard about the 3 speed Reeflo Blow Holes 2700s coming out and decided to go with 4 of them.
After over a year i am finally close to start up and after this weekend very little painting left.
I have 8 overflows built into my DT at 4 different levels with 4 of them each feeding a different Blow Hole pump. Then 4 overflows feed first my pre sump then to my main sump for my return pump, reactors and skimmers. I wanted to build a system that i could control everything so it has taken about 30 gate valves and 17 ball vales for this to happen. When the pumps are on high i will be pushing about 1200gph+ through each 1" outlet.
Once you see my finished DT full tank shot you will understand why i believe i have built a flow system second to none I know thats a bold statement but if i didn't believe it i wouldn't of said it....lol kinda a challenge to myself too.
I hope over the next month while finishing this part along with the different reactors and foam wall that i inspire and share my love for this hobby

To add to the fun of waiting i will share this......16 years ago i applied and after 2 years of battling recieved US DESIGN PATENTS. The first part of my patents i shared with our hobby at MACNA X in Long Beach California. While i didn't invent the concept i did invent designs that allow it to be used in our hobby.
It was a game changer just as LED's and propeller powerheads are today This also allowed me your average Joe hobbiest to meet and get to know some of the biggest names in this great hobby of ours.
Within the first year after MACNA and the ending of my 22 year marriage i left our hobby and only returned two years ago. Then after reading forums such as RC and others for the first time i decided to do one more build. The kind of FRANKENSTEIN build that only a mother could love and when finished i would share the other part of my patents.
While maybe not a game changer as the first part was as i stated above i hope it will inspire others

You are certainly able to work fast! I know what you mean about fittings, I have 2 rubbermaid containers full of them and I am still constantly running to the hardware store when I am plumbing something!

I would ask those who know me and what it is to please not say anything as this is all being done for some good fun.....and also to show hobbiest that are thinking/designing/and building ideas in their garages, fishrooms, or house to not give up because their idea could change our hobby or add a missing piece to it!:jester:


Yeah i hear you i even have a box full of painted fittings that i can never seem to use....lol I will give them away when i finish as you could plumb a few nanos with them.

I finished painting the other side of my close loop system today so finally pretty much done with the painting on this build
After i paint fittings i like to let them sit for 7 days to allow the finish to fully harden.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO painting is finished well may have a piece here and there but for the most part..........DONE
Painting a build is not that much work for a normal size system just don't use every color under the rainbow like this one and have fun with it!
Here is the other side of my close loop i will allow fittings to harden and install next weekend.

These are the feeds for 2 of the close loop pumps on the green side...kinda hard to get good pics some times

Here i am trying to show one part of the lighting for my pump stands ATS the other part comes from a 4' x 4' window at one end of sump area

You need to show a mess once in awhile to keep it real

Great build so far. Like your "Mo flows" idea, simualr to what's been in head for a while now.

Have you glued the pipe together yet? dont see any glue on the fittings is why i ask. If you have, nice clean work. what glue you using? hows the paint reacting to the glue?

Hello Kroamium,
Yes the MO FLOWS work really well i built them to accelerate flow and with both 360 degree barrel movement and air injection.
Yes plumbing is glued together and i will share a couple of tricks
First i use primer on both pieces some don't and thats ok for them i do because i feel it gives a better seal.
When i go to install the primer first i wipe off primmer ball a few times so its not dripping then i hold fitting upside down and wipe the deepest part of fitting first and work my way out. I hold fitting upside down for a bit so it dries and doesn't run...then i make two wraps with primer on pipe end while holding it upside down. I then repeat this same step with the glue.....fyi i use Christys hot glue and if i am using sch 40 clear pipe i use clear glue.
IMPORTANT: I apply only glue to the fitting at deepest part first working my way out, then push pipe in with 1/4 turn and hold for a few then let dry. By appling glue to fitting when installing pipe glue will not come out because your pushing inward but it will if applied to pipe then pushed into fitting.
Take your time and following these tips will give nice clean work

Here shows my bottom bulkheads along with the five panels that will make my foam wall. The way i am building my foam wall i hope there will be no need to go back and fill panel gaps. This building process will be shown at a later date as i wanted a before picture along with showing small base a bottom of panels. This will help hold panels down and keep aquascape toward back of DT with a couple of islands comming out. The foam wall will give me 17sq ft of additional surface area along with i believe a more natural aquascape.
