300 Gal Project

FRP rocks, does it not? I've thrown that shizzle up making many bathrooms... perfect for almost any messy environment!

Hey Timmy...anything new? Do you have water in it yet?

Heck, knowing you...it is probably already stocked.

BTW, I wouldn't paint the side that is not against the wall. You will not be able to get any side shots of the tank, which will be really cool with that tank.

I am thinking of getting some kind of foam board or something, paint it black and hang it on the back and sides. That way it will be blacked out normally but if I need to take a peek at the back or the sides of the reef, I can just remove the blackouts. Just an idea.

I haven't accomplished much lately due to a good long vacation that was overdue. I will be receiving my oceans motions wave maker and pump today to start plumbing the closed loop.

Funny you mention painting the side not against the wall. That's the only side I have painted!! I stopped though, with the thought you mentioned...putting something easily removable on for visibility. I hate that I can't see through the back of my in wall at the house, so I am going to do that different this time.

I'm ready for you to come by anytime to help with other suggestions, now that I have the closed loop stuff I want to get this going soon. Give me a shout,

Tim

Great idea Jason. I was thinking of getting something a little more durable. I have used poster board in the past and it worked great until my sloppyness dribbled some water down it and I had to replace it. It was still cheap though.

With a big tank 6"+ I was wanting something one piece.

I was over there yesterday and only the stand has been painted and trim work on the facing wall has been completed.

Tim is mainly getting together his equipment and planning how to plumb it. I'm sure alot more picks will be comming.

His fish room is awesome!

The outer trim and doors have been completed. The closed loop with oceans motions has taken a little form. The skimmer is here, and I did go ahead and paint the back black.

Aquatic Systems Design, he's in Kansas City. He does really nice work. I also have a couple other pieces of equipment made by him, all nice stuff. It was alot cheaper, at $950, all other skimmers in this size range were about $2000 or more.

Anthony has used some of his stuff as well.

It's looking very nice!

Maybe you can run some "Free Frag" specials w/ purchase of a vehicle. I see a future SEAS meeting taking place there... or two or three :D.

almost there

almost there

Got all the plumbing done, no leaks, we'll put salt water in tomorrow!!!

This is a guess, but the return pump looks like an Iwaki 100? and the CL pump looks like a sequence reeflo series?

Jason

Thanks Tim! I just spooged by pants looking at that skimmer! Scott does incredible work. I still have one of his skimmers running and will be ordering a bigger one from him soon.

Though I don't expect anyone to know...or read previous posts because, most everyone is just trying to boost their post count when making comments so I won't take it personally.

I was kidding about the return pump most anyone can identify the trademark green of Iwaki pumps...I have two. Oh and in regards to the reeflo...I have two of the sequence pumps also, though not the Dart, so I'm kinda familiar with those too.

In addition I have also actually SEEN the setup and talked with Tim

The Iwaki appears to be the american version (fan cooled) with the "converter" black box on the top...but I may be wrong on that. I have the a smaller non pressure rated version 30RXLTs (Japanese non-fan version).
