300 gal shipping advice

All, I have to ship my 300 gal acrylic tank from Cincinnati to Charlotte and wanted to know how to go about it. Uhaul wants 1000 bucks for a truck which is ridiculous. I was thinking ups or fedex freight. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks. John (Alvin).

Your best bet is to call the person of manufactory who has the tank and see who comes to pick up their freight or who is near them. Call whoever that is and see where the nearest terminal to you is and get a freight quote to their dock.

By picking it up at their dock you will save 50-200 dollars depending on who you deal with. Road Way Tax
Air Lakeville ETC.

It is worth your time to call everybody. I have had times where the bill can be double the cost of someone else.

Just my thoughts.

check the acrylic tanks on ebay --those guys ship 300gallon tanks for $300 or less see how they do it OR maybe sell your tank and buy new if the price is right

The big thing is, you will need to build a very strong wooden box around the tank. Bust 1st, wrap the tank in thick(2") styrofoam. You will need to make it so a fork truck can get under the box, so if you can get a pallet that is at least as large as the tank you will have a good place to start.

Use fedex freight. I had a 250 gallon tank 8' long shipped to me for 180 bucks across the country. The manufacturer built the crate so add on some money for crate materials.
