Hi guys. In the final planning stages for a seven foot tank (7 x 2.5 x 2.5). Since light and cooling are so interrelated, I am looking for comments on the plans for these two components of my setup.
1. Lighting: I am considering two of these dual 400 watt pendants from Sfigoli. Supposedly, each can cover 48 by 48 inches.

find the Infinity XR4 Twin 2 x 400 Pendant
My idea is to have a 14k and 6500 or 10k in each pendant. I will run the 14k for 12 hours (800w total), and the 6500-10k to kick in for two hours per day to simulate noon sun (1600 watt total). No supplemental tubes if possible.
Enough light for SPS and clams? Any bulb suggestions?
2. Venting:
The hood will be 2.5 feet tall. Sealed in back. There will be a open six inch hole on the right. The air will be evaculated by a five inch dryer duct on the right using a remote fan located in the basement. The air will be ejected outside in the summer, and, into the basement in the winter (depending on how warm/cool the basement is). The idea is to move a large amount of air with no fans in the fish room.
All equipment will be located in the basement. Will add a mega dehumidifier there plus minus an A/C unit if needed. The basement is unfinished concrete and stays pretty cool in the summer.
Any ideas how big the fan will need to be to aspirate air from the hood? If I vent into the basement, I will be essentially exhanging air between the basement and the tank room a floor above. Have any of you done anything like this with big tanks? Venting outside.... how badly will this affect my heating and cooling of the house?
Comments?
I will post some pictures of the setup later.
Thanks for any help.
