300 gallon upgrade

I am planning an upgrade to a 300 gallon custom acrylic tank. The original plan from the manufacturer has 2- 3/4" returns and 2-1" drains in the overflow box. Are the 1" overflows enough? I have also heard anything from 2-5 times water turnover from the sump to the tank to 10 times turnover. all that being said, how many gallons per hour should I have flowing through the sump and are 1" drains enough?

You should do 1 or 2 drain with 1.5" holes. You can always reduce the pipe but if you drilled 1" it will be hard to enlarge it later... JMO

I have 2-1.5" drains with 2-1" returns. I just have a FOWLR tank though. IMO, I would opt for bigger returns, and bigger drains. I run about 2000 GPH throw my sump.
