300g dream reef, off to a bad start!!

There should be an electrical supply store with those types of plugs (which match the connectors) in St Louis. If you can get those, you can re-wire those lines and even if you have to splice them it's better than no lights. Just don't have your hand in the tank when you turn them on.

After reading this thread my new 210 gal now seems whimpy and it's not even full of water yet. My current 75 gal is nothing more than a refuge. I am now convinced that the only way to top all of this is to buy an all glass submarine and park it on a reef somewhere (we'll live in the aquarium). May not be a bad Idea. If I could find an ocean side job I could park off shore and go home for lunch everyday. I wonder what the taxes would be?

Thanks, but as i skim the large tank threads, it makes me want a bigger one and this one is not even complete yet.

greed is a terrible thing.

finished the plumbing and hung the lights. They look really sleek and professional, those Germans, they really know their stuff. Well maybe not........see the second picture. The plug from the lights does not match the ballast.

Is it just me or does everyone have these setbacks!!!???

Does anyone have a fix for this?

I want to fire them up and now I have to wait, again!

I bought this from Thomas Espesito at "The Aquarium Depot" found at www.theaquariumdepot.com

I called him Friday and he was very understanding and promised help. That was Friday, today, Monday, in the mail I received adapters from Aqua Medic out of CO. That is just amazing to me that it was taken care of so quickly. A big thanks to Thomas for great customer service. If your looking for some lights he has a good selection and is great to work with! btw Aquamedic sent out replacement bulbs when some arrived broke and sent these adapters asap. That customer service could not be better.

Yes it was a good deal.... I think you might of misunderstood. I ordered the hood it came with the ballasts and connecting cords. It was a mistake by the company.

But they made it all good and very quickly.

That looks realy nice Deuce, I can't wait to see how you finish the stand. I have an idea of how I would do it, wondering if we're thinking along the same lines. Again, nice!

Tank looks great, what setbacks beside the one's posted previous.

I had numerus problems trying to get my salt to mix. That took about two months to get it cleared up. Every time I mixed it the ater turned brown and cloudy. I ended up switching from Red Sea coral Pro to Reef Crystals with no problems. See my link below.

After installing the lights, every time I turned them on they would run about a half hour and then the GFI would trip. Also all four HQI buulbs broke. I sent them in for service but they did not find anything wrong ith them. It turned out to be faulty GFIs. I just ran them to regular outlets.

I also had a bunch of leaks on the plumbing. My fault because I installed the bulkheads wrong.

All of this ended up adding an additional 3 months on to the installation but I am on track now though.
