i am starting with the 4 overdriven by the icecap. should be plenty to start with my zoas and gigas. i am then probably gonna sell my mh ballast's and my non icecap vho ballast and get at least 4 more t-5s possibly 6. ive been doing some research and that should me more than enough since im using the slr reflectors and the 660. oh yeah and the tank is 32 inches deep
the lights came today. i got everything wired up but dont have them on the tank yet. holy crap!!! these things are bright. i think im really gonna like them. to be so small they put out huge amounts of light.
hers a pic of the lights before i put them on the tank
i got them situated on the tank and they look great. my camera died so i went to put it on the charger. when i came back i decieded to test out the reflectors. i put them on and i must have shifted a bulb a hair or something so i blew the fuse in the ballast. i will hopefully find what i need at kmart today(one of the few places open) and have a pic of them on the tank later tonight
and the fun continues!! somethings up with my ballast. i have to send it to icecap to get it repaired. the lights are slowing down my tank move. i guess at least my 300 gets to age a bit more before the move
Sorry to hear about all the problems Ashley. I am having an issue with my T5 lights as well right now. If you are free sometime this weekend I would like to bring my icecap over to your house and plug it into your bulbs to rule it out as the problem. I think my issue is due to the bulbs. If you will be available this weekend shoot me over a pm.
alrighty seems like its been for ever since is started this thread. i got my ballast back from icecap (had a bad transformer or something) and the t-5s where put on the tank yesterday. i love it. my lights dont come on til this evening and i will try and get some pics. i need to do a big water change and the big move will hopefully be next weekend. i have to be here next sat again waiting on the directv guy again since he was a no show last weekend. the move is only a month behind. better to wait then rush things i guess.
alright so its been a little over 2 months since i started the thread and i finally got everything transferred over today. the lights are kicken and everything seems happy. all my fish made it so far and everyone is settling into there new home. the clams have already opened back up and so have the zoas and rics. i still want to add more lights and get a big skimmer but atleast its going. i will post some pics tomorrow evening after i do a little more cleaning and arranging
i am going to try and keep this one natural looking as we did our 75. its basically 3 huge rocks filled in with various sizes. we took time to make sure there are tons of caves for the fish to swim around in and hide. they really like it so far.the one large flat centerpeice area i will place about 10 differant types of zoa frags and let them fill in. should be nice. im so used to having corals everywhere it looks so empty now.
