300gal reef cracked???

my tank isnt even 1yr old and 11-28-08 the front pane cracked for no reason the stand is way over built and level looking for som e answers maybee you guys can help
only update is a bad one

this happen today while i was at work front pane cracked on my 300gal starphire reef this really s*&@s this is horrible thank god for my wife being home she saved the fish dont have any clue why it cracked nothing hit it it cracked where my tunze powerhead was flowing could this have been caused by the ???

did your wife hear anything, maybe the tunze kicked something into the glass.... that sucks I feel for you... any warranty on the tank?

I looked at your build thread after reading this. I think that there are 2 things that may have caused the failure. You said the stand looked level. It shouldn't look level, it must be level. So the first thing to do is get a level and check it. The other thing is that it didn't look like you had sufficient bracing on the tank build itself. Grant it I don't know anything about building glass tanks. What I did notice is that it didn't have any bracing than the top plastic brace. The top had a plastic brace on it, but it didn't look quite right to me. It would seem that it would need to be taught and thick enough to support the pressure. From what I've seen in the past, tanks on bad stands tend to start to leak in a seam towards the edge with the problem. I'm sure others have cracked in the past due to stands, but it almost looks like a build issue with the tank itself.

Again I have no expertise in this area. It is just something I noticed and I could very well be wrong.
