3130/2

Hello (again) Roger,

My 3130/2 wasn't skimming much and when I took the collection cup off, I noticed that there was not much foaming going on. So, I removed it from the sump and dismantled it. I found that the pump was running slowly due to some minor calcification. Cleaned it up with vinegar, reassembled, dropped it in the sump and .....voila......it began shooting water into the collection cup very quickly....this skimmer has never done that before.

I tried adjusting the screw...no change....

The hole in the back of the skimmer box is wide open, but I believe it has always been that way...

I raised the skimmer about a 1/2" to no avail.

I re-disassembled it to ensure the connections were to spec and everything looked fine....

Any thoughts?

So you are getting very wet foam, I take it the cup fills within some minutes? It may not be the skimmer, if you added any sort of slime algae killer, medication, stress coat, amino acid or vitamin, the skimmer will do this for a few days. The only technical cause that comes to mind would be that the air line has disconnected from the air adjustment screw. This is difficult to fix on these older skimmers but the line connects right under where the screw is. It is a tight spot to work in.
