what is the differance between the old 3130 and the
9010

The 9010 has a different body that actively pumps water through it. The 3130 is passive and the water reciruclates and this design makes it plankton safe but a bit underpowered for stocked or high demand SPS systems. The 9010 has the option to run in recirc mode if plankton safe operation is important, in this set up waste passively diffuses in by osmosis. Depending on how old the 3130 is the venturi and pump may be different as well.
