Hi guys,

As you or may not know, I am back. I am starting a 32 gallon Biocube and I am taking things super slow. I still don't even have water in it. I do have the 7 stage RODI connected and ready to go. I also have the DIY Refugium LED light and the DIY hood LED light built and tested. I will keep you guys updated as I make progress on this one and will place some pictures here as things move along.

I will be posting a looking for thread soon to get started with some LPS corals, which is the only thing I plan on having in this tank.

Welcome back! I'll be following this for sure. Looks like we decided to get back in at the same time

Wow. You are right. I can't see those images on mobile devices. Lets try this again.

Latest addition tot he build is lights for the stand. I did this yesterday with a micro switch to turn the lights on when I open the doors.

Not much to share. I got most of the LEDs from CrazyEyes here and the heatsink came with the hood when I bought the used tank. It will run on 24vdc and I'm using the controller below to handle the light schedule, as well as the ramp up and down.

I'll share more details on the LEDs once I get water in the tank and measure PAR.

Excited to see the outcome.

Any Information on the DIY LED hood ?

Ok. The refugium light has been finished and tested. I'm on the fence as far as PAR output, but since this will be against the glass, I think it will be alright. Here are some pictures.

Is that controller also the drivers? Or does it require separate drivers? The light I have no I do like, but I wish I could control it more to do sunrise and sunset, mainly because I hate having to turn the light on and off everyday.

All you need for this controller is a 12v or 24v dc power supply. This one will handle sunrise, sunset and other effects can be programmed into it. I have been using these controllers for years on all my LED lights and they work great.

For the fuge light, I'm using a different one, since I don't need ramp up and down.

This one also works great, but it does not ramp up or down.

Hey guys,

Quick update, I'm thinking i may need to go in a different direction with the lights. The ones I had installed were giving me problems because some were different voltages.

I put together the ones below, but I need to cut a large Heatsink I have to 10". I'm going to try and find a way to cut it, but once that is done, I think I'll end up with a very cool light.

I also found some full spectrum pink LEDs that I'm dying to try out. I have never seen these before, but they look promising.

This is the Heatsink. I got it from one of the guys here. It is 30" x 7.5". I'm looking to cut it to three 10" pieces.

Update:
I found a friend that had a band saw and cut the Heatsink at 10".

I just finished the light and added it to the hood. This is a picture of the light installed on the tank. This is at 60% on all channels.

Just finished the new DIY light with the new heatsink and 3 hood fans. This weekend I'm going to try to put together the reservoir and hopefully start setting the tank up.

More to come.
