32 Biocube LED advice

I currently have a 32 gal Biocube mixed reef that is doing great. I have a GFO reactor, intank media basket, Tunze skimmer, all keeping my reef happy.

I just ordered a second 32 Biocube that I want to do FISH ONLY. The biocube has shelves in the center chamber, and was curious if I could put filter floss on top, Purigen in the middle, and chemipure blue on the bottom. Or do I need one of the intank media basket? What is everyone else doing? Advise me please. The tank will be here Tuesday.

Congrats on the new tank coming man! I've got a BC32 as well (mixed reef). All I've got in mine is a poly-filter and the stock filter cartridge on the top ... filter floss, carbon bag and chemipure on the second ... And more filter floss on the bottom. I do a weekly 5g water change and everything is doing very well and growing like crazy (I do have upgraded lights however). Might want to consider moving your skimmer to the FO tank since it'll likely be stocked more heavily. Here's a pic of my BC32 :)

This is my reef tank. On yours how do you change out the filter floss on the lower shelves? Do you have to pull the whole assembly out? So you think my skimmer would be better served in the fish only tank? I also do 5 gal a week water change.

Sorry the photo won't load cause photo bucket now wants me to pay a monthly fee to be able to share photos....I refuse.

Yeah I have to pull the whole shelf assembly out. I use zip-ties to hold the filter floss in place which helps. I would think it would be better served there because you'll likely be feeding that tank more than your reef... So the skimmer would help with the excess nutrients. Does your skimmer fit in the back of chamber one? I'd love to see the specs on that bad boy. The guy at my LFS said a skimmer isn't really necessary with our size tank but I still want one. Lol.

Since photobucket is now lame, I recommend checking out the app Tapatalk... You can access and post on all the forums and even upload full size pics. It's actually more convenient IMO... Would love to see your tank!

I have the Steve's LEDs on my mixed reef. I'm leaving the stock LED's in the fish only tank
Nice... I was looking into those just today.. planning on upgrading the lights. How good are they?

I love them! Well worth the $300. My corals actually look better than they did at the LFS. It just takes a few weeks for them to adjust to the lights.

I know there are 28.....maybe 14 blue and 14 white. Be sure to get the 14K full spectrum.....it's the same price. I also upgraded to the bluefish mini.

What light settings (power) are you using and on how long. I am trying to tweak mine as we speak. Thanks. Tank looks amazing.

I see on your settings your using channel 3 & 4, on mine the only functioning channels are 1 (blues) and 2 (whites). Am I missing something?

Looks like we stole this thread, and our lights are set up almost identical (sorry man)! Do you have any SPS in your tank and do they seem to be doing well with these percentages?
