Hey guys,

so i just got my 320G Tank, the stand is built out of 1" square bar, the problem i have is that there is so movement from left to right (placing weight on the right lifts the left.

What is the best way to settle this?

The tank is on tiles.

Cheers:bounce3:

Your floor is probably uneven. You're gonna have to shim the stand, but that's a lot of weight so I don't know if wood shims will do. Best of luck.

Thanks reefnut!

What about laying down a long piece of rubber under the stand? OR even using thick black plastic to take up the movement?

Neither am I. Somehow you have to spread the load out evenly.
If there are bars like a box on the bottom of the stand then I would put something under the entire stand & shim between that & the stand itself.

The tiles will get annoyed if the weight is not uniform. If you can make a border of 2X4 wood or even thick or double layer plywood you should be able to shim the stand to the wood and the wood will conform to the floor.

Do an outline of the stand on the floor with 2x4 and fill half way with self leveler. Im not sure what it's rated for though. So your tank ma be to heavy.

Hmmm ok well im going to take a look and see where all the weight is leaning towards, then il use the shims to level her out :) Hope the tiles will be okay:)

You could use roof flashing for shims. If worried about metal on tile you could cut up plastic coffee can and use that for shim. Wood compresses to much to use as a shim with that much weight.

Another thought. Cut 3/4 inch marine grade plywood the the same size as footprint of stand. It would be a cushion for your tiles, help spread the weight, and the weight of tank with with water, live rock, etc. should compress the wood enough to level it out on its own.
