I was toying with the idea of putting my 4 Erectus in my 33 gallon long planted tank. Would they be okay there? The tank is very long, but shallow at only only 12" deep. I have been told that would be a way of making sure they dont reproduce (which I dont want them to do anyway). Opinions?

My southern erectus have transferred eggs while one was hitched on the fake coral. They had two broods without doing the traditional dance. The male was not a happy camper after he lost his previous mate. I did recently lose that male and was not surprised since he never seemed to stop grieving his previous tank mate. So I always wondered how this female ever convinced him to mate with her.

There is no guarantee they won't mate no matter what conditions you keep them in. But I can say that 4 erectus horses will need good water changes often to be safe in a 33 gallon tank. They eat and potty a lot.

I had them in the 33 for a couple of days, but they were transferred to my 50 today... and right away 2 of them started mating... lol.

My female erectus is trying to mate with one of her sons. I hate it. But I don't have the money to get new tanks and separate them. I have been told it will be okay. I don't know if they were successful. They bumped bellies all weekend. But he's still only about 4 inches long and much smaller than her. His little pouch can't hold much. I found a big pile of eggs on the floor of the tank. He does look slightly swollen. So I guess I wait and see now.
