336 A.G.E. Peninsula Tank

I read this and that page, so sorry if you already answered or addressed this question.

What are you doing for humidity? I want to do a similar set up with everything under the tank since I don't have room for a fish room. So I am concerned with humidity. I have a 120 and it is fine, but going to a similar size tank, it might cause issues. Interested in hearing your opinion or experience.

Sorry, Just noticed your question Jon, So much for email alerts.

Well as far as humidity goes I installed a digital hygrometer in my aquarium room which has a built in alarm to alert me if the temperature is going to hit the dewpoint. If so I have a 50pt dehumidifier that I could wheel in to drop the moisture content, but it has yet to happen to date. In my old apartment I would just manage the humidity with the Dehumidifier. In the south the AC units are geared towards removing higher volumes of water in the air considering in Summer here in Houston we average 90% relative humidity. I use an outdoor ceiling fan mounted directly above the tank to disperse air in the aquarium room into the house and the AC takes care of the rest.

Yeah so Johnny was right, Christmas was pretty crazy and Santa brought me lots of gifts for the aquarium so I kept putting off taking pictures till everything was squared away. Well a month has gone by and of course it's not done, but here is an update.

I swapped over to the Apex from my ACIIIpro here two weeks ago, which I am pretty fond of. I love the extra programing space and functionality. My previous auto top off controller had a float switch go out so that was the primary motivating factor to make the switch. Now I am using a digital pressure switch to maintain my water level and I have 7 float switches in the mail to for fail safes and warnings. Two will warn me when I need to refill the water vats, 3 switches for High, Low, and Overflow in the sump, one for when the skimmer is full, and last a tank overflow warning. I also have water sensors for the dreaded water on the floor scenario on the way.

I also have just started using Prodibio to see what kind of results I will get. I am using the Biodigest, Bioptim, and reefbooster. It's only been a week and a half so it's two soon to tell.

Last is the big update. My wife got me some coral for Christmas which ignited my most recent SPS binge. Dave at Urban Aquatics has been getting some of the most crazy stuff in for me which has totally ignited my tank since the move, he really hooked me up. I lost a number of SPS in the move due to the complications of moving a tank this big, but it's now getting back to something I can be proud of. I will try an snap a few shots when I get home for an update.

hi there. Just read your whole thread. Very impressive. I am actually in the planning stages of another large tank as well. Considering using AGE too. Just dreading tearing down my 180 as of now. Let's see some updates though. Pics of the new setup and garage equipment access, etc.

Thanks for the Bump, I am heading out in the morning for NOLA for our aniversary so pictures will have to wait until Tuesday. Hopefully I will finally find some time to run my auto water change lines then as well.

Tear down is never fun, just make sure to have plenty of space for water and livestock, and towels ready for the inevitable spill. Also found a shop vac is worth it's weight in gold when it comes to removing the sand bed.

Wow guys, sorry I really have dropped the ball on this one. I just went back through the most recent posts and I guess I haven't posted any new photos since the move. Here is what I have on my phone so the quality is a bit lacking. These are from around Christmas so I need to go back and take some new shots.

Here are some equipment shots from the garage that I took right after I put in two dedicated electrical circuits to feed the tank, so drywall dust was everywhere and wires weren't very clean. The grey box on the wall is an access door that I put in so I can access the protein skimmer from the garage so I don't have to drag the collection cup through the house. I have added a 5gal remote waste collector which passes through the wall and has a pressure switch to act as a safety so it doesn't overflow. I will have to take some updated shots of the current layout.

Just purchased a Honda EU3000i Handi generator yesterday for hurricane season. I am going to have the HP2s auto-transfer switch put in so in the event of a power failure it will fail over to a UPS until I get the generator fired up. Still trying to figure out if I can tie in additional marine batterys to boost the run time of the UPS without having to buy a ridiculously expensive UPS.
