Love this tread, just go my 34 Gal Mini, & am currently cycling it.
BTW, like the filter tower you made, I'm planning an upflow ATS.
Got a few questions about the skimmer,
are you happy with it?
I've seen many threads indicating how twitchy it is?
I don't have a skimmer, but possibly looking at the Tunze 9004.

Luibove, the skimmer is super twitchy. The issue is the water level in the AIO area changes dramatically with evaporation (the display never changes so you don't notice) so it produces less skim as the water evaps and goes nuts when you top off. I imagine this would be a problem with any skimmer if the water level is changing 2" in 2 days
An ATO solves this.

Thanks, I really enjoy trying to think outside the glass box. The CAD is coming to the end of its days after about 2.5 years, everything will be transferred to a 65 gallon rimless shallow reef with a sump by end of the year. I think all my fish friends and livestock will enjoy the extra living space and gallons and I will really enjoy having more space to work in.
