350 gal cube 2.5 years set up update

Thank You all for the kind comments. Especially about the sump.

The tank has been stressed several times since i moved all the animals from my 180. However, now after a little over two years into it i finally seem to have all of the parameteres close to optimum at the same time. It has really begun to take off. However, I am adding 4 tbs of sodium bicarbonate daily and running my ca reactor wide open and still struggling to maintain 8.0 level of Alk. Guess i need to pick u another ca reactor as i expect the demand to continue to rise as the corals grow.

Just FYI the tank has 5 400 watt MH lamps and a 250 MH lamp over the sump. I mix bulbs but i like at least 2 or 3 10 k lites in addition to the 20 or 14 K versions. I like the extra color i get with the 20 K but i dont like the blue tinge so i mix them to please my eye. I dont have the flouresent colors that some seem to get but the colors are deep and rich and pretty close to what you see in the images. The tank is a high nutient tank. Algae grows anywhere that light reaches. All my fish eat algae except the copperband. They will clean a rock of briopsys in a couple of minutes. They fight over aptasia. Honestly they act like wild fishes in this tank. They school and graze. Its really fun to watch.

Hey Mickey! Miss you guys too. I still have that coral for you guys, When you get your tank stable let me know and i will overnight it down there.

The images here are just half of a 75 gallon tank. The the tank is spilt in half by a piece of glass. The dark side is the real "sump" and has some live rock. Its the only part of the sytem where the wl fluctuates. It is just large enough to contain the back flow when the electricity goes away. Not much sand shows when all the guys are puffed up. They dont bother each other too much.

I introduced the Golden Flake into my system in the summer of 07 I think. Nips the bases of the corals quite abit. Sometimes leaves bite marks but no real harm. No where near as hard on them as the Emperator.

Nice update on your efforts!
Can you tell me what the large colony in the middle back of the display is? It is the grey/green acro. I have one like it and want to id it.

Thanks,
Mike

Top pic a purple monster? Nice! Really nice pieces you have in your tank. Quite a set-up. You mention you are high nutrient... do you run carbon, gfo, anything like that? Do you feed your corals at all?

Really impressive!

this is a beautiful tank. I love your angel, I wish I had a tank big enough to keep one with sps. Maybe one day...

That is a beautiful tank , its good to find a few members from Tallahassee on here to help me get ideas for my reef tank , that tank is amazing.

hey Dave, I got my tank pretty stable down here, everything is rely growing in, actually it took off and I am having to upgrade tanks soon. I think I am going to purchase Colin's tank in the near future. When I do, I will drive up and pay you a visit. I have got a coral for you I think you will like and do not have. Hope to see you soon!

Hey Dan! I had an Juveinile Emperator Angel in my SPS tank. What an awesome fish! Sadly he developed a taste for my Acros about 1 month after having him. I had to send the little guy off to a nice home. What a beautiful fish though! Congrats on such an awesome acomplishment. Your tank looks great!!

Hows the tank looking these days? I need to come by and see it in person soon, but I lost your phone number, send me a PM so little Owen and I can come by :)
