35g reef build

I thought I would go ahead and share my reef build! I started reefing about 2 years ago, with a Biocube 14g. Got tired of it, learned a lot of things the hard way and so now I have upgraded to a 35G cube (20" x 20" x 20") plumbed to a 10G sump/refugium.

Bought the tank on 1/5/2014
and put all the plumbing together for the overflow

I was searching for a way to give the sump some give, for vibrations and what not. At homedepot i found an outdoor mat that was memory foam/rubber. Perfect for vibrations and a little spilled water ;)

Now on to the building of the sump/fuge. I built it using 1/4" acrylic, Weld-on #4 and GE sillicone type II. It worked pretty well. Doesn't look too bad.

The aquascape started with the 15-20 pounds I had in the biocube that you can clearly see is much darker and established!
I then added about another 20 pounds of live rock. I am currently waiting for it to level out. The ammonia is just below .25 ppm and once it levels out for a few day I can get some water changes done and get everything leveled out and then add my first fish. The GSP is one of my surviving corals after some unexpected things that happened when I moved to the larger tank.

Thanks for the pics and your thread. I am in the middle of setting up the same tank. Ar e you going to use a skimmer? If so which?

Yes, my filtration consists of a 9002 Tunze skimmer (rated for 52 gallons so may buy a bigger one sometime), a phosban 150 with phosban media, and a nice ball of chaeto! :D

sorry for the phone pictures, I have another camera but once I get good stuff in ill take better pictures

What do you guys think? Is that zero? Cause it almost seems to be in between, but also looks to be about zero.
Sorry, it is a little hard to tell cause the light makes it look a little brown looking. Once I read a zero I'm going to test for a few more days then do some large water changes...

looks great!

out of curiosity, what are the internal dimensions of that stand?

i've been thinking about doing a small cube for seahorses, and i am stuck between the DB 35 RR and a Marineland 60 RR cube. how do you like your DB?

Well for one the price is insanely different. For just 25 gallons more it's double the price.

The DB RR 35 g is 20" x 20" x 20" and the inside of the stand is 18.5" x 18.5". I for in easily a 14" x 17.5" sump, 13" high (~10 gallons)

i absolutely love the DB black silicon seams too.

i have a little DB 2.3 Betta on my desk at work that i've made in to a small freshwater planted tank and i think the black silicon helps frame it nicely.

thanks for the measurements! it is looking great.

Oh yes, I love them too! they look so good! and some people said they didnt like theirs but i LOVE mine, it was very well put together, seams and all. I heard people saying theirs leaked and whatnot... nothing here!

Added a pair of percs yesterday and a small frag of people eaters. I think one of the percs is sick/disease/parasite so I've been keeping a close eye on him, and ill be ready to treat him. Here are some picture, hope you enjoy! A little boring since there isn't much in there but oh well!
