Anybody have a good one lying around that is not actinic? I need to swap a bulb out for a less blue look, but don't want to order online unless necessary b/c of shipping. Thanks in advance!

well if shipping is what is bothering you then why don't we set up a group to buy and split the shipping, might take a while to organize but as you said it is just aesthetics. we all usually need something. I am setting up a discus tank and need a few things. we could pick the stuff up at the next meeting.
We just did an order a 2 weeks ago. I am sure if there is enough interest we can do another one. Shipping is free if a total of 6 bulbs are ordered on our group buys but it needs to be a min of $250 and through marine depot.
Andrea what is the order and types of bulbs in your fixture.?
Good question, Tom. I can't remember. I know I have 3 actinics and 2 non-actinics. And it goes Blue, blue, white blue white from back to front. I tried re-arranging them, but it still looks too blue. Brands: Geissman and AVI or AVU or whatever that other brand is.
I would try and replace one of the actinics with a URI aquasun. It's a 10000K bulb that will help with growth and eliminate some of the blue. If not the ATI/Giesmann Blue pluses(60/40) are nice bulbs and will give you a little more blue than the aquasun. I just got my T-5's running and I am pretty happy so far.
Be careful with the changing of bulbs, as going to the Aquasun from a BluePlus is a pretty big increase in PAR if memory serves. The blue color does diminish over time, my small tank was much more blue than it is now after 6 months of using the lights.
You could call that Beer/Hydroponics place on S. Alpine. If URI sells grow bulbs, they can probably get them. I think they have TEK lighting. Cant remember the name , Brew and Grow or something like that.
