36x36x20 suggestions

I am currently setting up a 36x36x20 cube tank. I had a wavebox 6212 and a 6100 on my old tank. Will this be to much for the cube? If it is what would you suggest?

It could work, I would personally keep the wavebox and replace the 6100 with a 6095, but the 6100 can work as well.

I have been considering the same setup size. What would you recommend for a full sps tank for flow? 6095's or 6105's? Thanks, don't want to jack, just figure its easier to keep them together.

Thanks. I took you advice and I'm going to keep the wavebox and replace the 6100 with a 6095. Where would you place them?

With a tank that shape, there are several ways you could do it, most would depend on the layout of the rock and what sides are viewable.

I would probably then place both on one wall so they are 12" in from the side they are on and probably about 8-10" from the top.

After I finished the layout of live rock the tank is not as open as I had hoped. There is not really a good spot for the wavebox so I think I am going to go with the 6100 and the 6095. Also the 12" in and 8" from the top on one side isn't going to work out either. What are some other good configurations? I really liked the wave I was getting from my old 6215 wavebox. Is it possible to get a decent wave with these two pumps? If so what setting on my 7096 controller would achieve it. Thank you in advance.

It is definitely possible to create a wave with the 7096, but it will take some experimentation on your part. Put the pumps on channels 3 & 4 of the controller. Then check the 'Wavecontroller' box in the software and push Start. Now watch as the controller slowly increases the timing. At some point, I'm assuming based on your tank size it will be fairly early on, you should see the wave start to form. You can then click Stop and fine tune the Seconds setting manually.

If you're unable to get a wave this way, then you'll want to reposition your pumps and try again. If you want to post some pictures of your tank I think we could give more specific advice. Good luck!

Here are some phone pics, ok quality.

I think adding a 6095 to the top center of the 3rd picture, pointing forward (or up and forward) would work well. Another option might be directly under the white PVC elbow on your return line, pointing to the diagonally opposite front corner. You could then try using the pump on the left to create a small wave.

So I put the pumps on channels 3 & 4 of the controller and now have a nice wave in my tank. Is there any way to have one of the pumps ramp down in night mode and continue to run? Right now the both shut off in channel 3 and 4 and only my system pump runs at night.

Unfortunately, night mode shuts off wavemode completely, this is simply because most people want to end the splashing noise at night. In other modes this is possible, but not in wavemode.

Is there another way to achieve a wave with two 6095 other than in wave mode? Also does this shorten the life span of the pumps?

You could try pulse mode on the 7096, keep the same timing of the pulse and use 30-100 power, this should allow 30% night mode if you set the top power 2 line to 30%. This likely will diminish the wave height just a bit.
