Hello everyone! I wanted to share with you some pics of my reef. It is 5yrs old now. When I started the tank I knew nothing of what I needed to and because of this I made many many mistakes which eventually allowed me to enjoy about a year and a half hair algae battle. Hard to believe this tank was at one time filled to the brim with Green Hair. I wanted to post these pics for those who love their tanks and also have battled the decision to quit the hobby. Hope you enjoy.

RON, I likes..... love the simplicity and look of it. I'm also a cube guy 37gal as well. Love the xenia wall.

Thanks charles. Is yours a marineland? The thinness of the glass really scares me.

Thanks for the compliment pug!

Crawladdy,
I prune back the xenia monthly. Boy are they a pain but they add so much to the tank especially when people come over and see them pulsing away.

Charles,

Do you have an oversized stand to fit all your equipment? I've found it to be rather challenging to fit everything.

Not really challenging as I don't ever run SUMPS, I have a internal overflow to skim the surface of the water which is collected by a Deltec MCE600. and Phosban reactor, both are Hang on the back. The only thing in the cabinet in the MH ballast and fan. test kits, products for dosing and food.

old pics when I first started her up and started recollection of my old polyps that were lost during tank crashes.

Charles,

Cool pics. Love the tank man.

Glad to see everyone likes the setup and the vids. I've added a refugium to the sump that I still have to put up on youtube. Ill post some pics later tonight for everyone.

I thought about doing that with my xenia but didn't because I am worried a piece will get torn off, go down the overflow, get pulverized by my return pump, and seed my entire tank with bits of xenia. Have you ever seen anything like that or does it just not happen that way?

I use a plastic mesh on my overflow as well as a filter sock in my sump. It would be impossible for the xenia to make it through and back to the return pump.
