380 Starfire SPS in a closet

I was going to just screw the face frame to the metal stand and then attach my doors to the frame, this would probably work for you tanya. The reason I didn't was the doors I could get at Ikea didn't line up quite right so I screwed the face frame to the wall instead.

Keith, you can buy just doors at Ikea, they don't really advertise that but just ask at the design counter.

Wow, amazing thread. I'm glad I found it. I have a question...have you needed to get into your overflows at all? I'm planning a tank 84"L x 36"W x30"H and was thinking about having an external overflow on one of the short ends, so, if needed, I could get into it easily. I won't have access to an overflow if it is located along the back.

Thanks!

I had the chance to see this tank in person, and i was blown away everything is build so PRO :eek1: every detail...amazing work !!!
thanks Dan  I see you around soon!!!

I can climb on top of the tank to get back there if needed, other than that, no I have no real access. I've never found that I need to get in the overflows more than once a year so it works for me.

Really nice build!!!

With your heater array, are you worried about air pockets getting stuck in the top of the Ts?

It is a closed loop back to the sump, so if air gets in there it wont cause any nuisance bubbles in the display if that's what your getting at?

The thread was called "ultra quiet panworld mod" that should help your search, I haven't seen the thread surface lately or I would post a link for you.

Fantastic thread ! I learned a lot while reading this. On the website that you mentioned for buying acrylic tubing they advertise polycarbonate sheets too.

Is polycarbonate a good alternative to acrylic sheet for building aquariums ? They claim that it is 250 times stronger than glas. What about scratches ? can they be repaired the same way as one would do with acrylic ? Have to admit, i never saw an aquarium build in polycarbonate sheet. Bad idea ?
