I am currently looking at setting up a new tank. There is not that much real life experiences with this product in reef tanks, and I am looking here for guidance. I have attached a link bellow to the 3M website for the product info... I am really looking into this stuff because the cost, and color selections...

Does any one see where this would have adverse effects or problems in a salt water reef/fish tank.

Your guidance and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Use it as my sand bed... and seed it with a couple of cups of live sand...

I bet it would look cool as the bottom with no sand at all! I placed my rocks on the bare glass in my tank and I kinda wished I had been a little more patient. I didnt want to spend the money on starboard

those are crystals though... designed to be filler in a surface coating.

if you want a sand bed, why wouldnt you just use sand?
