Hey, Gary. If you'd like a frag of pipe organ, hydnophora, or tan bird's nest (or all three), I'd be happy to drop them off sometime.

Aw! That sucks. Are you the gentleman with an NY hat? I vaguely recall you bought two of mine. I'd be happy to replace your bird's nest or hydnophora.

Just let me know.

Next one we will have to make a numbered grid. Then at the end, you get a list of your numbers and pick them out.

I take the fifth on the gentleman part, but I did have a NY (Yankees) hat on.
Thanks for the offer, but i'm fine. The Pipe Organ I purchased from you is doing great, love it. Thanks again for the offer, see you at the next auction.
 
Good to hear that my beloved pipe organ is doing well.

The pipe organ is hardy, but it can succumb to algae covering its hard shell. It is a soft coral that make inert hard shell, to which anything can stick.

So, clean it if you happen to see algae starting to cover the shell. Squirting with a turkey baster seems to work fine.

I have to say I was bummed to see the $5 steal of an auction ricordea on craigslist within a few days, as well as the rhodactis that I kicked down for free. This is why I wish it was a trade rather than an auction type frag meeting.
 
With the exception of 1, I'm going to guess that the lack of any response to this means that it is standard practice and encouraged.
 
I'm just glad to see frags going to other reefers. Every time we frag we keep another coral healthy in the ocean. Grow them well, then share in any way you can. We invest time and money and deserve to be compensated.
 
I agree with you that it is nice to distribute coral. I just have issues with how it was done and the seemingly hidden agenda of the auction. I could be over thinking this as I would just give away coral if I wanted to distribute or sell at real values to the buyer rather than indirect middle man if I wanted to fund. Reefing is a money sink and a hobby, and we deserve nothing for compensation imo.

I don't think there was a hidden agenda as a whole, I had a great time and love my new corals.

I think the only agenda was to get all of the people who love the hobby in ABQ together to have some fun, it was done as an auction so that people who didn't have frags to trade could be a part of it as well. Can't help if there's a bad egg in the bunch
