4 6000's or 2 6100's for a 180

Which set up would work best on a 180 gal mixed reef? I like the idea of the lower watts using the 6000's and it seems I would have better flow with the use of a controller.

If money is not an issue I would go with more directional flow with the 4. I would also suggest a wave box. I run 4 6100's with a wave box on a 180 and the diverse flow is fantastic. good luck and happy reefing.

Would a wavebox work ok on a rr 180? How much noise in the overflows with the up and down surge?

minimal with durso standpipes. I am sitting by it currently and hear a little overflow noise. To me it is worth the little noise. It creates such a diverse flow around the tank. The serge is not that extreme without the extension box.

It really depends on the corals. I know you say mixed but if you are leaning toward SPS, then the 6100's are a better choice. I would also lean to the 6100's for neatness.
