4 nano stream 6055s or 2 stream 6100s

I'm setting up a custom 185G tank (60L x 30W x 24H). It is a walk-around peninsula style tank. All streams or nano streams need to be mounted on the non-viewable end, alongside the overflow box on that same end. Return from the sump is plumbed across the top of the tank to the other (viewable) end and pointed back at the streams to get flow in both directions.

I will have 1 - 1.5" sand and this will be primarily SPS.

I was sort of set to get 2 6100s, 1 on each side of the overflow box on the non viewable end. But what do you think about using 4 nanostream 6055s instead, 2 on each side of the overflow box, one higher one lower? Whatever route I go, I will use a 7095 muticontroller.

Will these nano streams give good flow across 5 ft of tank? I was thinking maybe their smaller profile wouldn't be quite as distracting in this walk-around tank. Whatever streams I put will be viewable from all viewing sides? Of course it's 4 pumps instead of 2, so maybe a wash?

I'm no tunze expert, but I am going to say that the 6100s will "punch" much harder at the far end of the tank (a good thing!). I would think the 4 6055s would give you more coverage area closer to the pumps themselves, but not produce anywhere near as much water movement at the other end.

They do sell a fake rock structure that conceals the stream pumps if you are really worried about the larger profiles.

We have a tunze 6080 (or maybe even a 6060) in our 120, 72 inch long tank, and there is still great movement at the other end of the tank, JUST from this stream pump. Who knows, maybe the 6055s will be enough. Hopefully some others with more experience will comment because I doubt I have really shed much new light on your situation!

I think the 6100's are really the way to go, besides, 2 6055's takes up the same real estate as 1 6100, from the perpective of saving space, eliminating bulk it does not work.

Yeah, I was thinking the nano-streams look more appealing, but you're probably right.

Sometimes late night thinking doesn't make as much sense in the morning :)

Also, keep in mind that the 6055's won't be readily available until probably april and even then they are going to be hot items that are going to sell out fast.
