4 new clams from nemo's, 2 are crocea and 2 are maximas, all are 1 inch

the only prob i could think of with being in the baby food jar is that it might restrict his feeding while in the tank, though it sounds like the best method for direct feeding since it will probably disturb the clam the least

as far as telling which clams are which, compare the byssal openings. maximas have openings that are way smaller than croceas, though im not sure how apparent the size diff will be while the clams are this small. compare the openings, if two of them are much larger than the other two, then youve got 2 croceas and 2 maximas, if theyre the same size, then 4 maximas

if all the clams are as small as you are saying then they are most likely Maximas. 99% of all Croceas in the US are wild collected. the collectors aren't wasting there time on 1" clams that they will get a penny for, they go for larger clams. the small Maximas you see all come from clam farms

out of four got two but my new tank that they were in had a gorilla crab that had stole one and killed it the other died. the other two doing fine in my big aquarium. Now that there getting bigger one is definitely a maxima and the other has a ribs up the whole shell like squamosa and both are doin great. Don't think the guy at nemo's were i bought mine was sure what they were he said they were crocea clams but shells are not smooth like crocea's i have to of them and know what they look like.

My lil' feller is doning just fine. I've moved him to the new tank and he's now under T5's. I am going to guess that when I stuck him up high it must of been to much light, cause he moved quite a bit to get to the end of the rock and fell to the bottom of the tank. I've placed him on the front tip of the shunken battle ship with some sand down first. Oh yea he no longer fit's inside the baby food jar. I'll post pics after I get the hair algea undercontrol.

Sorry to hear of your lost Derrick :(
