40 breeder stocking

Hello,

Was wondering if I could get some recommendations on my stocklist. Was planning on:
2 clowns
1 longnose hawkfish
1 red scooter blenny....I know this is normally a no-go, however I have a line on one that is feeding on frozen mysis and brine.
Unsure on what else I could do, was thinking a shrimp goby of some sort. Just want to make sure I have colorful characters as well as activity in my reef.

Thnks in advance for any opinions.

Sounds good, as long as the scooter blenny is eating mysis. A shrimp goby pair would be perfect also.

Flasher wrasses have great character, and are super active. Great fish, just be sure you have 1/4" mesh on your tank.

Midas blennies are also super active, and will stay in the rock, but mostly the water column more than other blennies.

I just want to make sure all levels of aquarium are covered with some kind of activity. Would like a wrasse but I hear lots of horror stories about eveil wrasses.

I agree with the flasher wrasses my McCosker's wrasse is a model citizen. My 40b is a bit loaded with fish but I'm going to get one more fish, just haven't decided yet what it's going to be. Also get the Midas blenny, great fish and mine is great and gets along with everybody. My only problem fish is my Cherub angel. If you want one make sure you get it last as they're a bit aggressive, just not anything like the 6 line.

Never get a 6 line they usually always turn very aggressive, I don't find them that attractive anyway.

Not a big fan of the angels, anyway. So updated stock
2 clowns
1 longnose hawkfish
1 red scooter blenny.
1 Yellow Banded Possum Wrasse
1 yellow prawn goby, and shrimp buddy.

sound about right?

I do like the potters, but would rather not risk having corals get nipped. And wouldn't I be overstocked at that point?

Your stock list is so nice and peaceful. An angel would be the boss of everyone. Stick to more peaceful fish and you'll be happier. You could probably get away with one or two more small fish. But just see how things go once you have all those fish on your list first.

As to your question about being over stocked I have the following 7 fish in my 40b

Cherub Angel
Yellow Candy Hog Fish
Pair Mocha Ocellaris clowns
Royal gramma
McCosker's flasher wrasse
Midas Blenny

I'm considering adding one other fish but haven't decided yet. You can tell if you're over crowded or not by watching your nitrates and mine stay below 10 usually below 5. I feed my fish frozen mix food twice a day and broadcast feed my corals 2-3 times a week.
