You couldn't be more wrong. I have had mine for over a year. Again, most things are personal preference.

I've Allows seen sand shifter in nano with no problem mine has been in my 30 for a year I so go with it . They don't grow fast
So if I were to replace a 6-line with a fairy or flasher then I should be ok to add a Mandarin. correct?
Fairy and flasher wrasses have a significantly more difficult time picking pods than other wrasses. They are much more adept at feeding from.the water column. I would not consider either fairy or flasher to be any real competition for pods. That being said a mandarin may be able to deplete the pods produced by a 40 on its own.
Not sure which ones you are referring to specifically but my supermale Lineatus and female flame wrasse were quite into pods.
Any planktivorous fish will be interested in pods, but being efficient enough to deplete a pod population is something completely different.
