40 gallon "breeder"

I've been seeing a lot of these 40 gal. "breeder" tanks lately.
This may be an obvious answer, but why do they add the "breeder" part to the end? Is there something about the dimensions of this tank that make it meant for, or better than other tanks for breeding? (It's relatively wide)
Do people use these tanks as regular display tanks?

It was pretty cheap, and I was cosidering buying one, but I just wanted to make sure this aquarium would be suitable for a normal dislplay tank.

They are awesome tanks because they are shallow, which gives you more leeway with lighting IMO. Also they are wider giving the tank nice front to back viewing depth. That allows you to put a big tank type aquascape in a small tank.

Traditionally, I believe, the long, wide, shallow tanks were used for breeding. I don't know why, and I could be way off.

Yeah, they are pretty neat. Lots of aquascapng possibilities. I do, however, prefer a slightly more balanced width and height, so I don't know what I'm going to do.

I really wish a manufacturer made 40 breeder reef ready tanks... I don't like the idea of drilling a new tank.

Basically a breeder tank is wider than it is tall. That means there is more surface area for oxygenation.
