Thanks Brian! I can't wait to see this tank in person... I know it will be a little small, but hopefully it will help keep it simple and easy to take care of. :)

Thanks Brandon! I'm really impressed with Scott thus far, the guy just continues to amaze me with his ideas! I'm very excited to see this thing take shape, but I know it won't be the last. I still keep dreaming big, I've got an unfinished basement, and some stock options that vest at the end of the year. :)
 
Well went and check on the DIY kalk reactor on my Dad's setup, and it looks like it's going to work perfectly! Nice powder settled on the bottom, and clear lime water on the top. Just enough flow; the rodi must pass through the powder to enter the canister and it doesn't create a constant cloud. :) I'll get some pics when I can.
 
Got an update on the tank:

The shell was routed flush, the top template was built, routed out, and was bonded and curing last night. The bottom w/ bulkhead holes will hopefully be done today, and then buffing can begin. Should be crated this weekend, and ship on Monday hopefully! :) I'll post more pics as I get them.

All the edges and corners are still to be rounded over and then buffed and polished, not flamed. :)
 
Okay, I just got done building a kalk reactor... It took less than an hour including testing, installing, and keeping my son under control. :)

Water Filter Canister ebay for 8.99 + Shipping
3/4x1/2 Threaded Bushing 1.04 (for 2)
JG Fittings 5.40 (for 2)
Teflon tape (everyone already has)
3/4" PVC already had, but I'll guess it's 2.50???
1/4" tubing 1.82

So that's less than 20 bucks plus the shipping for the canister! Just add a water source and run it to the tank either on a drip or float valve. :)
 
I hvew a freind who does setup and service for people and he was a firm beleiver in the quiet one until just a while back! he was telling me that the new design is faulty and they get really noisy after about 6 months! just thought id throw that out there.....
 
Eric, so far I have been pleased with my QO 3000 as my return. The QO 1200 has been so so... not sure what causes it to occasionally be noisy. I have only had these for the last couple weeks though.

I would imagine anything would need to be cleaned properly, especially after 6 months of use. I don't know if that would fix the problem or not.
 
Thanks guys! I hope they will work for me. I plan to plumb them with unions so I can easily remove them for quick maintenance and cleanings. I decided to go with the 3000 over the 4000 for the sump return since I want the Closed Loop (QO 5000) to provide most of the circulation and not have the sump return over power the random flow. Anyone see any fault in my logic?
 
Just an update, my light came in yesterday, the return pump comes in today, the tank and closed loop pump will be tomorrow! :) Stand construction should begin this weekend.
 
Alright! Time for an update... All my equipment is here (that I've ordered) still have some plumbing to buy, but that's another story...

Return pump is here, closed loop pump is here, and last and definately not least, the tank arrived today...
