40 gallon divided for clownfish breeding

I am splitting up a 40 into 6 compartments. The plan is to plumb to my 40g sump. Each compartment is around 6.6 gallons and each will have a drain and return. I want to quiet this down as much as possible. Is 1" bulk heads too much? Also since this is a single tank can I hard plumb each compartment to the next rather than having each one going to a sanitary t? I envision T's coming off 4 of the bulk heads, and 90 ' s coming off the two ends, all flowing into a single drain. Do I need to increase the final drain size or can I stick with all 1" for drain. I did a multiple tank setup going from 1" to a 2" drain with sanitary T's and I wasn't happy with sound. Also note this proposed setup is only for my pairs, not growout. That will be seperate.

This is what I'm thinking of. I found this online, and modified it slightly. Ignore the overflow boxes and the fact that it's only 4 compartments and the plumbing appears incomplete. Can I use 1 single drain line plumbed to all bulkheads.

Is it ok, that i'm installing my 1/4" glass walls before I drill the tank? The glass has some play. I purposely asked for 1/8" play when sizing the glass. I'm thinking that should allow me to be ok when I'm drilling.

Im not sure on the plumbing but i wouldnt go with any less than 10 gal min for each compartment if you want to use them for breeding pairs of clowns. 6 gals is to small.

Thanks, but I've seen folks use even smaller. Does anyone have a comment on the plumbing? I was thinking of doing a durso like setup as well.
