the 8x11 print out is not the "Rebate Authorization" receipt. you should get a normal out of the cash register receipt which they can print for you.
 
Yeah.. I went back and have them print the rebate authorization receipt, just to be sure. Got a bottle of fuel stabilizer also and I am going to fire it up and try.

Has anyone test run the generator with their reef, just run the entire system off the generator instead of the wall?
 
lowbudget - information is in the very first post... but to answer your question, you had to purchase the generator by 3/29/08, rebate has to be mailed by 4/13/08
 
I hope they did extend it for those who want to get in on the deal... but I just checked fatwallet and looked for the rebate form, but was unable to find one with any later dates than the 3/29.

Post the link to the rebate if you have it.
 
Folks have had good luck using 25% Customer Survey coupon on top of the rebate. You need buy something small first so you can enter your transaction number from you Kragen receipt. 25% coupon should arrive via email within an hour which you can bring to the store. Lot of people had success with this but some managers are anal and won't allow it so try another Kragen

I just fired mine up for 20 minutes it runs nicely

Does anyone know where I can buy a transfer switch.

or setup my router with UPS or something to e-mail me when there is power outage?

Much appreciate for the looking out. :rollface: BTW, for safety, you may not want to run a generator from inside your house to prevent carbon monoxide poison. I'm not sure on the new type, but I've been working around some old generator, and I can smell the fume/smoke :eek1:

I haven't compared prices to see if these are a good price or overpriced, but this guy seems to have a very good selection. It also works for me since my home breaker panel is Square D and that seems to be the brand he sells:

Not the price that steers me away, the installation is very complicated! :eek1:

looks like basically you have to piggy back each circuit you want to power..

So what are you looking to do? I believe if you want to use your generator to power circuts in your house you will need to run each circut through the transfer box. If you are looking to power your entire house, I don't know if this unit can handle it.

Personally, I don't think it is that complicated. If you have ever opened your main circut breaker box and done anything in there you should be able to install this transfer box relatively easily.

I'm planning on doing just that. I think I will only run 2 of my existing circuts (a few lights and my refrigerator) to the transfer box and the rest will go to my tank.

When I had tanks at home I just used an extension cord. The power has never been off long enough where I've lived since 1982 to worry about food storage. If needed I have more cords. ;)

I havn't finished reading all of it yet, maybe it is the same, I don't understand why it comes with 240V breaker..

But I found this for about $300 retail:

it looks to me MUCH easier to install because you only need to work with your own breaker box and don't have to setup anything inside the transfer switch as well. Considering this unit comes with 6 breakers already and the ebay / SquareD you have to buy (up to 6) squareD "Q0" breakers, I think they go for about $20 each so maybe the cost difference is not that much for a more user friendly unit.
