ok i was looking in my box of goodies and found my 400w MH ballast and a brand new bulb i had. Now that got me thinking about putting it over my 30G high.

Now this is where i ask you guys what do you guys think? is it going to be too strong and bleach the corals or not?

What type of corals? As long as you acclimate the corals to I would tend to say that the light will not be too strong, especially if you are keeping sps.

i use 3X450MH plus 2 72" VHOS i don't have a problem

450w? A 400 watter over 60 gallons of water is good lighting in my opinion. A 400 over 30 gallons of water is insane lighting in my opinion. I can see this much light with sps, but with other coral it might be overkill. Maybe someone has a 1000w halide that Kathy can throw on her new pico. :)

well it's just that i have everything all ready from a former tank i had. So i dont have to go out and buy lighting. Just trying to use stuff i already have.

do you have 3 1000w

i have some 1000w i got from a freand who needs them lol

I have some 1500 watters but they don't make any bulbs bluer than 6500k :)

I see nothing wrong with 400w on a 30g. I would use a 20k bulb and you will have good par and great colors :)
