40g reef... Fish suggestions

lolgranny

The DQ King
Tanks been up for about 6months now and everything's doing well. I plan on having alot of sps and i want to be able to have as much fish as i can as it will benefit the corals. I was looking for suggestions of fish / what you would recommend / the amount.

I was thinking 3-4 cardinals
2 clowns
sunburst athinas
i wanted to get 8-10+ if possible.

let me know what you think, Anything helps bunches.

Thanks

Your current list is fine. I would definitely not go over 8 fish. It's not a concern for water quality so much as it is about space for the fish, from my perspective.

Sixline's can become aggresive over time to new comers, I like the mystery wrasse myself. More money but a better citizen and colors I think.

So you would think 8 would be max?

The 6line i use to have never had a problem, but EXCELLENT call on the mystery wrasse. They have always cought my eye.

athinas are a bit to big for a 40 gallon. I have a 36, and have 3 chromis, 1 sixline wrass, 1 cardinal, and a coral goby.

I think 8 fish would be a lot for a tank this size. I've currently got 3 in my 40 breeder and I'm planning to stop at 4 or 5. I would look at blennys and basslets for a tank this size. I too would love a harem of anthias but I think there isn't enough space. Mystery Wrasse is a great suggestion, I'm considering that for my last fish.

Ya i was thinking the athinas would be a little big, but i was planning on getting them small and putting them in my 75g once they get larger. As for blennys they could agitate corals so although i love them i have to pass on them :(
