420 redo of TO's Tank.

haha, thats cool. i was just checking through my subscribed threads, and was just wondering. some times people start new threads or just do local thread builds.
and i was just checking in.

That's still the old set-up. I hope I can make some progress on the new one. Finally have all the toys, now just need to move stuff around and transfer everything. Too many things going on that have some priority.
If that clam keps growing, might need to redo again. It's about 18+ inches now.

Heck, I haven't even been on here in a little while. :)
At least have m ost of the kitchen re-do done.
Don't know if I want to post current pic's, prob. worse than the old ones.
I'll see how it looks when I clean the glass.:)

Well it's been a little while. Got some more work done on the tank. External overflow , support stand for the plumbing from the over flow and some of it's plumbing are done. Now I have to let the over flow set up a few days.
Hopefully next weekend I can actually move the tank to the spot of the old one. I need to move all the livestock out of the old tank, then move old tank, move new one in, plumb it and get the livestock back in. Current lighting will be used until I can mount and wire the new lights. I'll see it I can get some shots of the overflow.

dahenly
Try and get some old tank shots. Had a lense shatter on one of the de bulbs.Lost a few things due to the uv.Rest of the tank is about 60%, from it's good days.Sps and clams took the worst hit the last year. Lost my large gigas of over 10 years, a few months back.

Well after a 14 hour day the tank is finally set up. Everything plumbed, up and running all livestock back in. Too pooped for pics, try and get some when everything clears up and the rock work is done. Still need to re wire a little for up coming light rack. The rack is done just not over the tank yet.Did find one surprise, one nasty eunice worm. Glad thats gone.
A good night for the extra hour of sleep. :)

very cool.
are you still running the one and only skimmer, or did you ever change?? you had mentioned it at one time, but never confirmed it.

I went to 2 ATB 12.5 deluxe internals. Not as happy yet as I should be. One I've been having restart issues with one.Hoping for a little better production. Been running them for about 3-4 months now. Just took the Volcano off line yesterday. See if that helps. Also the new coast to coast should service the skimmer a little better. Well now that I can see everthing, time to get the rock work done. Had to watch the Bears first. :)

Some quick pics, not sellar ones though.

It's a Aquamedic Oceanlight 3 x 250 by 2 x 150 DE. Running Phoenix 14 k for all.
Will be upgrading to 4 x 400 Reeflux SE, in Lumenarc reflectors. Light rack is done.
Need to finish some wiring , along with the controller and power bar strategy. Then hang it.
Need some input on the flow lay out.Currently only have the circulation pump, a Reeflo Dart and wavebox with wavebox extention running.Wasn't sure how the wavebox would work out, as this tank was a higher water level than the last. pu tit in a few hours ago and got a decent wave.
So now a have some extra Tunzes and Vortechs I can use.
1 - 6060
3 - 6100's
1 - 6101
1 - 6200
1 - 7091 controller
1 - 7095 controller
Along with 2 Vortech mp40w's.
Posted in the Tunze forum as well.
Any feedback on pump placement would be great. :)

Fish , Lps, doing well, SPS coming back now. Looks like I'm going back to the Volcano, after trying the ATB's. The external skimmer works better in my sump set-up.Need to get back to the nuisence anenome killing. Let it get out of hand a little.
Spent some much needed time on the tank the last month.Need to keep the care at that level.
Had too many commitments on the table the last year, and the tank suffered a little because of it.
I still have to replumb the sump for the feed pump for the Volcano, and would like to rebuild the Alita air pump as well.
If I can keep things at least stable to the end of the year, I should have much more free time in 2013,planning on retiring from this job then.

Have you looked into the Barracuda orca?
in the old Volcano skimmer thread, a guy replaced his dart/alta pump with just a barracuda orca and is working even better.
just a thought. (let me know and ill hunt up the thread/link for you)
