430gal., L-shaped display

Nah, behind a powerhead. But, yeah. But, look at the the agitation right before, the crossed snouts as they both pressed their bellies down into the algae (on a return PVC tube behind the powerhead), and the aftermath--stunned immobility for a few seconds and then the male going into a happy dance with the amazing color change. Look at the female's abdomen before--large--and after--smaller. And then compare all of that to this video:

Yeah, until I find eggs it's all conjecture. But I think I can make the argument. :)

Is that "unbelievable" as in "really cool" or "unbelievable" as in "I don't believe it for a minute"? :lolspin:

So, if everything went right with collection and there aren't too many contaminants in the container, hatching should be on roughly (depending on temp, etc.) the third night after the spawn. So, assuming that there were eggs and assuming that I managed to collect at the right spot and assuming that nothing eats them first and assuming that the temp is right, I should start seeing some prolarvae late tomorrow night. The eggs are supposed to be really small, less than 1 mm. We'll see.

such a peeping Tom.

Isn't that what the internet's for? :)

No luck yet with finding any little ones. I watched the files for quite a while last night. The female was very fat and agitated but the male never quite got in the game. Things are looking a little better so far this evening, so I'll give them another little "zooplankton bloom" again in a few minutes.

Thanks, y'all!

Sad news. It look like my elegance might have gotten exposed to the disease somewhere along the line. It's not looking good.

The other corals are looking pretty good, though. The elkhorn acro is starting to re-color, as are the other acros. The bird's nest is growing pretty well. The euphyllias are looking good.

No sign of baby filefish yet. It looks like the folks might spawn tonight, so I'm keeping an eye out. The female's pretty fat.

Jonathan--You'll be happy to know that, while I may not have collected any file eggs, I sure as heck managed to collect one of your juvenile snails. They are spreading.... :)

Mindless or brainless? And, is that me or the snails? :)

I wrote up an article on those snails. It's out for review with no word yet. I'll let you know if it gets accepted.
