I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV. :)

And you did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night -- right. :p

Wow, that rotifiers are crazy!
What do you feed to them?
Do you use a magnetic stirer in your cultures?
How strong magnification do you have in your microscope while taking this photos?
Thanks,
Peter

Thanks, y'all!

Marc--I do try to entertain. :)

David--this round of spawn is a watcher. The cultures I have are not large enough yet to sustain anything. Maybe next go 'round.

Alan--I'd better not have. My lovely bride would be awfully upset with me. ;)

Peter--

What do you feed to them?

I'm attempting not culturing algae, so I'm feeding them the Instant Algae Shellfish Diet. A really good mix of algae and not something I have the time or room to do for myself.

Do you use a magnetic stirer in your cultures?

Nope. Just a little aeration.

Murf--Thanks!

Sorry I wasn't around today. My kiddo requested a family trip to the renaissance festival as a birthday wish. Who am I to turn that down? Doesn't hurt that my lovely bride looks awfully good in a corset.

It ain't broke; it's merely a tab away.

I haven't finished glueing it up yet, but here's the manifold for the larval rearing tanks.

So the theory is, as long as I have enough water flow so that the manifold overflows and sends water back to the sump even when the water is flowing into the tanks at the maximum rate I want, then I should have a constant head pressure for the water flow for each tank. That way, I should be able to pull tanks on and off the system without having to constantly mess around with the ball valves on the other tanks. We'll see.

Something new. This is my daughter's tank down in the basement. It's letting her work on building a community of fish and learn how to care for them. I'm also using it as a place to try out a bunch of macroalgaes and seagrass, hoping that one of them really likes the tank and will out compete the nasty algae that's been growing in there.

This is what she wanted to keep, so we design the tank around them.

I really like the look of all the algaes. I hope something takes off.

And for something completely different, a couple of shots of the feeding frenzy in the main tank tonight:

Andy those pics are sweet, sounds like the kiddo is off to a great start as well, and that algae does have a pretty neat look to it.

Andy, you have the room, you should look at building a big turf algae scrubber.

On a different note, how are your temp swings? I had a 4* swing yesterday and topped out at 82*. I added a small fan to the sump. High today is 81* so we will see how that works out. I am at 77.7* now.
