430gal., L-shaped display

Thanks, Moses!

Life in the tank is starting to really take off. Here are some shots of hitchhikers:

I don't know what this is. It builds a tube like a tube worm, but it doesn't have the double-crown of tentacles. Maybe a tube snail? But you can see the mucus net and the stripes. Odd, but very pretty.

And an absolutely gorgeous tube worm. Unfortunately, they are pretty small. But I'm still psyched to see their population spreading.

And, here we have a cute little colony of soft corals that came in on the bottom rock of a gorgonian and are spreading:

Thanks! Sorry about the downtime. The electricians took me down for a couple of hours, but things should be stable again. Maybe. I just realized that my network switch may go down at some point.

Didn't I give you a FTS last week? :) Not much has changed. A little more coralline, I added a monti frag to test the hard coral waters, and I lost a wrasse to interspecies bullying. :(

Congrats with the publishing of the article, I enjoyed it. I had a large reproducing population of this type of snail myself, unfortunately they slowly decreased in number for unknown reasons.

Do you mean vermetid snail?

Prolly so, though I'm not up on tube animal ID. I think they're pretty cool--love the mucus nets--though I've never had the problems that other people have had with them, so that's probably why I like them.

Leonardo--Thanks! Let me know if you ever want a new starter population. I like your tank!

The gobies have moved their operation to the back side of an aquarium magnet. Seems like the perfect opportunity to try out some artificial incubation. Excellent!!

I hadn't. Thanks! I love macro slideshows. That daphnia was pretty cool looking. I need to learn some cool microscope techniques.

So, I have a show for you all tonight. There are lots of pictures, so I'll only direct-link a few. If you are interested in the rest I will give you links.

The starry blennies decided to spawn right out in the middle of everything, right on top of a magnet. It wasn't a huge surprise that they spawned as the female was huge, just kind of crazy that it was out in plain view.

The eggs are pretty much gorgeous. This is from the back so you can see the attachment fibers:

Unfortunately, lots of animals like eating eggs:

wow that's amazing! it seems like all your fish like to spawn on those magnets, looks like something to invest in haha. Keep the great pictures coming, and are you going to collect those eggs and try to rear the larvae?

Thanks, y'all! There will probably not be any eggs to try to rear. The fish really did a number on them. I would love to try with these guys though. They look like they have pretty big eggs = pretty big larvae = maybe pretty easy to raise. Hopefully she'll find a better spot next time.
