44 Gallon DIY All-in-one

Okay, maybe not the smallest in the world, but the display is really only about 34 gallons! I have been working on it for the past few days, and I only have one more side to put on, then the eurobracing, and then the bottom pieces to lift it up off the ground a little for support. Keep in mind, this is my first DIY tank EVER, and the silicone job is a little sloppy b/c I'm doing this at work, have to do it at lunch time (1 hour alloted) so taping is out of the question. The reason I'm doing it at work is b/c I'm hoping the tank will be here at my job. Anyways, onto construction pictures.... again, crappy silicone job, I know, but it will work for me!!

That's all for today. Tomorrow I'll be putting the last wall on, and doing the eurobracing around the top. The dimensions are 24x24 x18, with the back 6" being fuge/sump area. Thanks for looking!

You must have a really cool boss to let you build that tank in the office. Looking good so far. I was planning on doing that to my 60 gals cube, but i never got around to doing it and sold it. Keep us post it.

Yes, I do, and he's even seen it, and says as long as I only work on it at lunch time, he's fine with it!

Nice work. I will like to see how it end up. Did you pre cut the glass pieces your self on some one did it for you and you are gluing them. I want to do something similar but I have no idea how to cut the glass or even drill it.

Very nice.

What are those metal things you are using to hold the glass together? Is the purpose of them to line it up and hold it while you silicone and let it dry?

I guess if it is, that sure beats the take method.

I had a glass shop cut the glass and clean up the edges so I didn't cut myself when siliconing and manuevering the glass.

Thanks!! The metal thing is a 90 degree clamp. It's helping to hold the two pieces together, as well as helping me keep them perpendicular to each other! It's worked great so far, especially for the $8 I paid for it!

Well, I forgot my camera in my car... but I have the final side on, silicone is drying, and once my supervisor gets up, I'll run and grab the department camera and use that

Eurobracing is on... it's just about dry, so I was able to take the clamps off... I'll get a picture of it soon!

I was planning on painting the back wall black... and possibly leaving only the fuge clear... haven't quite decided on it yet though

Okay, finally got the pictures of the finished tank... need to do some cleaning, and a water test... but here it is!!!
