44 inch long reef tank

I am buying a new home and there is a place for a tank in the wall with access from the back for maintenance and equipment. The problem is that I have a 48 inch long standard 75 gallon reef tank in my present home but the space in the new home is only 46 inches long. Does anyone know of a 75 to 125 gallon tank that will fit in this length space or slightly less. Width and height are basically unlimited but the length is probably 46 and no more. I can put 48 inch lights on top inside the wall but the tank can't be longer than 46 inches.

Also, any threads or suggestions on in the wall (closet) setups. ? is heat a problem, ?ventilation needed.

Thanks, Rick

I'm not sure if a prebuilt tank exists that is 44 inches wide.. But I do know that some of the tank builders are happy to build to suit your needs. Example: www.glasscages.com, I called them a couple weeks ago and specified dimensions I was looking for, and they gave me a quote on the spot. It appears that, at least in my case, they just quoted me the price of the tank closest in dimensions (but larger) that they offer premade.

Yes, the standard U.S. length for 55, 75, and 120 are all 48" so I don't think there is an "off the shelf" tank that's 44". You may want to look into imported tanks, but even those are standard sizes. An Elos 120 is 47.24" long.

That said, getting a custom tank made is a lot easier than people think. As widmer mentioned, most manufacturers -- small or large -- will probably make the tank to your specifications. I heard that even Oceanic will make custom size tanks.
