450 Cube tank build thread. Here I go!

StLouisGuy you're my Idol. Really I love everything about your tank. I have been following this since the beginning, and will continue following. I am building a 240 cube, couldn't do bigger, and it will take forever to get this done, but it's a plywood tank that I have modeled after yours... slightly different, but I got the ideas from yours. Keep up the pics.

Excellent choices for lighting on both the frag and main tanks!
You could always mix higher k mh bulbs if you can't squeez in the actinics

Looking great, I can't believe the growth you've had. What are your daily and weekly chores you do with the tank? It looks like my husbandry skills need to improve ;)

I am the lazy reefer. I try and change 50 gallons of water every week or two, I clean my skimmer about once a week or so, I test about every month or when I remember, I feed daily the fish which the coral do well with the byproduct of, and thats about it. I really dont spend that much time in maintence but I kinda planned t that way. Its going on a year and so far everything is doing well, but it is still a young tank

Added a bit of light to my main system also. I just wasnt getting the light spread that I wanted into the corners of my tank, so I decided to add a few more reflectors. Here is the lighting before the upgrade

So I moved the two acentic lights in the middle, slid all 4 lum. reflectors out to the dges, and put another pair of lum minis in the middle with another couple 400 watt bulbs. I then moved thw entire rack up about 8" so now its about 10-11" off the water

Watching temp, going to run the lighting cycle on acentic, left set, right set, middle set off left side, right side, middle, acentic

Awrsome....just awesome!

I've been subscribed since the beginning.

I never get tired of seeing or reading about you're tank!

I have an AGA 180 RR and wish I had the depth of a cube!
24 inches just doesn't cut it.

I've been toying with adding 1 or 2 more reflectors to my cube (4 x 4 x 2) I'm running 4 - 250 DE in the PFO mini reflectors. But here in AZ heat is always and issue even with a chiller. I'd also like to see a before and after of the lights.

Thanks for the kinds words everyone. I hope this shows the differance in light, notice how it fills in the cracks and edges of the tank now just as bright as the middle
