4th Annual Coral Conference and Frag Swap!

Many of you have joined us in the past for our Annual Coral Conference and Frag Swap. We look forward to seeing familiar faces again this year as well as meeting some new hobbyists.

Plans have been underway for the past few months and will continue as we lead up to our 4th Annual event which, this year, will take place the weekend of June 20th. The Conference offers a very nice variety of activities. To list a sampling of what the weekend will involve; there will be traders, exhibitors, expert speakers, auctions, tours. Hi,

Just a quick question on how the trader thing is going to work this year. .....Are the displays going to be 10 gallon tanks or nanocubes or? Are traders taking them home as in past years or has that changed? Sorry, it sort of implies that things are going to be different this year on the website.

Can we bring our own displays or opt not to have a display tank at all and just use bags?

Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm for this year’s Coral Conference and Frag Swap. We apologize that the plans for the exact size of the tanks for traders, and whether or not these will be given out at the end of the conference, have not yet been finalized. These will be of a similar size to those used in pervious years.

We are excited to welcome a large number of traders to our Frag Swap this year, so unfortunately, due to space limitations, traders are unable to bring extra tanks. We would encourage all traders to use the tank provided as this helps ensure that all specimens are kept as healthy as possible before bagging. Exact information, including the size, will be provided to all traders at check in on Friday, June 20th. We look forward to seeing all of you attend our 4th Annual Coral Conference and Frag Swap.

We have checked further into your inquiry this morning and we have received some further information. All registrants for the trader packages will be given a trading space which will include a 10 gallon aquarium which will be prefilled and preheated. We are not able to confirm the exact model or type of aquarium at this time, however, you will be able to keep the aquarium, compliments of Drs. Foster and Smith! We are looking forward to seeing you at the Conference.

I hope the building where the trading was last year is cooler last year. Perhaps having some kind of vent on the one side so the air can actually flow all the way through. By the end of the day on saturday it was pretty miserable on the west side of the building.

Getting Excited!

Everybody at Drs. Foster and Smith is looking forward to our 2008 Coral Conference & Frag Swap. We can hardly believe there are only about 6 weeks until it’s here. This year’s event is going to be even better than the years past â€"œ we take into consideration all comments & suggestions we receive so that we can build upon the previous year’s experiences.

One of the main concerns is the ventilation/cooling of the Exhibitor/Trader Facility. Please be assured we have improved this dramatically with the installation of more ventilation, and the use of multiple evaporative coolers. This year, no matter what the temperature, everybody should be quite comfortable.

In addition, we have expanded the show days to include Friday for visiting the Exhibitors/Vendors â€"œ and we have more than ever before attending!

More vendors means more raffle prizes for all of you, and over $20,000 dollars worth of them! See the list of who’s coming & what raffle prizes are this year here:

The Frag Swap has also been increased to include BOTH Saturday and Sunday! Speaker sessions have been expanded, and will all be held in the same speaker area throughout Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

After our 1st try at auctions last year, we learned a lot, and hope to improve upon those as well. Everybody can look forward to getting some amazing deals! We have some incredible corals and fish set aside, and at the low prices some of these unique items went for last year, this alone could make the trip worthwhile.

Our Kid’s Area is also continued this year and we encourage everyone to bring the entire family for a fun filled weekend.

In addition to all of this, the speakers lined up this year are better then ever. Some great names in the hobby that we all look up to along with some very knowledgeable professionals that work in the industry behind the scenes are booked.

All in all, the event is going to be very exciting and we can’t wait. Please be sure to pre-register so that you may get your pick of tour times â€"œ they are filling up quickly!

Already purchased my tickets, will be driving up on friday, spending the night at a hotel and visiting all day Saturday and driving home, this will be my first time going and am really looking forward to the swap and to see the whole Live Aquaria setup and seeing tanks/filters and etc.... I am really excited and can't wait

I missed the trader sign up and it is now closed....if anyone needs to cancell I will glady purchase your trader package. Or, do you have any advice? I have not missed a year yet and let this one slip by.
