5.5 gallon nano (pics and questions)

equipment:
maxi-jet 400
elite 25w HOB heater
aquaclear 20
6lbs LR
10w cp flurescent light

Some junk came in with the LR seen in the third picture and I was wondering if I should put my aragonite sand over this or not?

I would like to make my aquaclear a refugium but was wondering if I can put a 3-4" dsb in it with some LR on top and some phosphate remover and either not lit at all or with a white l.e.d. light?

looking good atm......i would put sand on the bottom for sure thats just my opinion

Ya I am, though I guess I need to remove the crap that came with the LR, though it might prove to be tricky with it being under the LR.

Does the refium idea sound ok?

hmm. ok, I got it up today after the silicone completely sealed and all but will probably just have LR, phosphate remover, and maybe some macroalgae in it. Will have to buy some more LR hopefuly this weekend.

I have red tube things and red paper like things growing on the LR any idea what these are, the tube things open up at the end with little frils sorta, can't really take pics since my camera doesn't zoom?
