was cruising through some pictures on my laptop tonight and realized just how much my 34g Red Sea MAX has changed in the past 5 months...

yeah it looks really good. Back glass was cleaner in August when you started.

What package of sea monkeys did you buy to get that to grow so fast?

Great tank.

I am thinking of starting an RSM after being out of the hobby for 3 years or so. What mods have you made?

That's pretty much what I did...started a 55g "sort of a reef" tank back in the mid 80's...kept it up and running until 1995 when I got divorced and moved to DC for couple of years...so the RSM was my first tank in 12 years...

Mods? not many...I never used the filter media that came with it...I put 10lbs of LR rubble in the filter compartments from the start along with a unit of Chemi-Pure Elite...I sent the hood out to have NanoCustoms retro fit the hood to 150w MH with two 18w Antics...which of course caused me to get a pacific coast 1/10hp chiller to keep temps down...oh...and I added a Koralia #2 to help with some extra circulation in the tank...

Thats about it...I started off with live sand from a friend and all cured live rock...so I never really had a cycle...had a little spike in ammonia and about a week later everything was zero...never had any major algae bloom...little bit of brown diatoms...then the rocks got a little green...but never had the huge outbreaks of hair algae that others have had...

I dose with 2 part...and sometimes remember to change out 3 gallons of saltwater ever couple of weeks...but to be honest...I think it has been at least 6 weeks since I changed out any water...I have been messing with getting the 120 up and running that the RSM has not been pampered lately...guess I need to change out some water this weekend! :D
