I havnt posted any full tank shots yet so here we go. I think I shot these at about f10. Im still trying to fing the right settings so any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Nice! Image quality looks great- rich and sharp and tons of detail. On my monitor they look like they could be a little brighter perhaps. Beautiful corals too.

Thanks Greg. do you have any suggestions to get brighter? shutter speed? It also seems like the tank is scrunched up in the photo's. It is 36 inches long , but looks like a 29 gal. in these photo's. any reason for this?
If you are using the kit lens zoomed all the way out it will distort the picture, sort of like a fisheye lens (no pun intended) would do, only not as severely. If you have photoshop CS2 you can fix that. But that is the cause. That's why pros prefer prime lenses, lenses which don't zoom but only have one focal length, like a 50mm or a 200mm, as opposed to a 70-300mm zoom lens.
One of the things a shallow depth of field gives you is a feeling of... depth Your pictures, because you used a small aperture, have lots of depth of field so everything is in good focus. This technique tends to compress the image (make it appear flatter front to back). Another way to achieve more depth and still have decent depth of field is to get close to the tank and use a very wide lens. It's a fun way to shoot because you can do it handheld.
You have graduated to advanced photography
Hey guys, im thinking of getting P S Elements , but am a little concerned that I will end up wishing I had purchased regular PhotoShop. Will I be missing out on a lot with Elements?
