Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum but I've been a reader for a while now. I had a question for anyone who has ever kept an octo. I have been planning on getting one but I'm having trouble finding a good tank. Here's a link to one I found on the PetSmart website, would this be a good one to start with??

http://www.petsmart.com/global/prod...he link) Let me know what you think. Thanks!

from what i read, octopi need a lot of space. 50 seems small.
also they seem very hard to keep.

what kind of a top does it have on it.....so you dont end up stepping on the octo on your way to raid the fridge in the middle of the night?

my campus had an octo 4 years ago before I started. I heard tales of how they had to lock down the lid because these guys are expert escape artists. Also my professor was not thrilled to have this predator attached to his arm after feeding. It took a trick or two but eventually it was sold to a local aquarium because it didn't work out. Just be aware these guys will get out if they can. When they are small a 50 gallon will be fine, but depending on the species they can get humungous and you may find yourself building a tank to accomodate its growth.

They are extremely smart and are excellent in deuctive reasoning........can be amazing escape artists.....need a good solid lid......and he is right...I have a friend who had one and he got ginormous.........
